abstract = "In recent years, the Amazon has undergone great changes through
the use and occupation of land. As a consequence, natural cycles
seek to adapt to this new dynamic aiming at the balance of energy
matrices. The objective of this paper was to characterize and
correlate the Leaf Area Index (LAI) with the fraction of
Photosynthetically Active Radiation (fPAR) in the Biological
Reserve Jaru (Rebio Jaru) from February 2000 to August 2015. The
data come from product MOD15A2 of the Moderate Resolution Imaging
Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor, free available of National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) homepage. Comparisons
of the means of the LAI and fPAR data series between all years
(2000 to 2015) were statistically different (p-value <0.05). The
seasonal distribution of precipitation in Rebio Jaru was a
determinant factor in the variation of the LAI and fPAR data, in
which there is a decrease in the wet period (Jan-Mar), increasing
from April to December, except for October. It was observed that
the dry period (Jul-Aug) in general presented the highest values
of LAI and fPAR, with LAI being most expressive in September. The
MODIS product demonstrated to be efficient for the
characterization of LAI and fPAR in Rebio Jaru, the analyzed
variables presented positive correlation (r = 0.875), significant
statistically , that is, increase found in dry and dry years and
the decrease in the years of flood and in the wet and transition
periods occurs among the variables.",
